Client News: Adventist Health System and Florida Hospital Close Deal with Bert Fish Medical Center

Source: Adventist Health System Press Release - 6/30/2010

Officials of Bert Fish Medical Center and Adventist Health System have finalized the agreement today to officially be a part of Florida Hospital.

"The Board of Bert Fish, along with our employees and medical staff, are excited for the future with Florida Hospital," said Bob Williams, CEO of Bert Fish Medical Center. "And we are pleased to see this agreement come to fruition."

Areas of expected focus include the facility’s cancer center, various capital improvement projects, and an analysis of specific health care services still needed within the community.

The agreement provides several benefits to Bert Fish Medical Center and SE Volusia residents by reducing taxes for residents and infusing the facility with funds for capital and service improvements, as well as loan repayment. Additionally, Florida Hospital is a nonprofit organization deeply committed to the communities it serves, dedicated to both disease education and prevention and providing care for those in financial need.

“We’re committed to the SE Volusia community and believe this will be a great partnership,” said Michael Schultz, president and CEO, Adventist Health System Florida Region. “Our priority is to enhance the continuum of care available to residents and will continue to collaborate with the board, focusing our energies on the areas of greatest impact.”

“Our organization follows through on our commitments,” said Daryl Tol, Volusia/Flagler Market CEO. “If you review our history in Volusia and Flagler counties, you’ll see a track record of focused stewardship, from the openings of the Florida Hospital Flagler campus and Memorial Medical Center, and now our partnership with Bert Fish.”

Client News: Inova Fairfax Hospital Breaks Ground on New 11-Story Patient Tower

Press Release, June 28, 2010

Falls Church, VA – Inova Fairfax Hospital is excited to announce plans to construct a new 11-story South Patient Tower on the campus. The tower will consist of 174 all-private intensive-care and medical/surgical patient rooms. The additional 216,000 square feet will enable the hospital to meet future inpatient and outpatient needs and will allow for flexibility if there is a surge in patients during a disaster or pandemic event. Total cost of the project is estimated at $161 million. (For more information, watch a video overview, go to Inova’s newsroom or download images.)

"With increased demand for healthcare services in this area, it is critical for a hospital like Inova Fairfax, which serves as the hub of a community healthcare system, to expand to meet the future needs of our community," said L. Reuven Pasternak, MD, CEO, Inova Fairfax Hospital Campus. "This outstanding new space will provide a place where caregivers and patients can work together to ensure excellent patient care and a positive experience for the patient. The expansion also signals that Inova Fairfax continues to be a center for innovation in medical education and research, attracting the best talent in the country."

Construction of the South Patient Tower will begin this summer and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2012. The tower will stand at the entrance of the existing main hospital, and the two structures will connect on all 11 levels. The patient units were designed with the input and ideas of doctors, nurses and staff to develop rooms that enable caregivers to deliver the best patient care possible.

The design of the intensive-care units (ICUs) concentrates ICU specialties in areas by floor. For example, the neurosciences ICU is directly linked to the neurosciences intermediate-care unit (IMC), which leads directly to the existing main hospital. So, as a patient recovers, they will be transferred from one unit to the next but remain on the same floor. The concentrated areas also enable staff to work with those in their specialty and to form cohesive clinical teams.

"The design and equipment in the ICU rooms in the new tower will really allow us to take critical care and trauma care to the next level," said Christopher Michetti, MD, Trauma Surgeon, Inova Fairfax Hospital. "One of the best features will be 360-degree access to patients. As trauma surgeons, we’ll have the tools and proper lighting to perform procedures right at the bedside and be able to access the patient from all angles."

The medical/surgical units are designed to create an environment that is conducive to healing, while structured for ease of use by staff. There will be workstations outside of patient rooms so staff can monitor patients while giving them a sense of privacy. Also, each medical/surgical floor will have telemetry capability for patients who require cardiac monitoring, enabling patients to remain in their rooms rather than being transferred to a separate telemetry unit.

"When we sat down to design the medical/surgical units, we took into account our patient population and their specialized needs," said Mary Dixon, RN, Senior Director, Medical/Surgical Services, Inova Fairfax Hospital. "More than half of the patients we see are over the age of 65, so we're really focusing on creating a safe healing environment that works for the older population. We consulted with design experts on all aspects of the room, from the placement of the bathrooms to the color schemes and patterns, to create not just a room, but a healing environment."

In keeping with Inova's commitment to sustainability, the design of the South Patient Tower includes many environmentally sustainable aspects and is seeking Silver Certification from the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) building certification system. Patients will see elements such as a "green" roof, water cisterns and rain gardens. The design also incorporates a highly efficient energy system and insulation, as well as paints, carpets and furniture with low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The project was designed by Wilmot Sanz Inc., an award-winning architecture and planning firm. After a competitive contractor-selection process, Turner Construction -- a nationally recognized healthcare builder -- has been awarded the contract for construction. Both firms have previously completed a number of successful projects for Inova Health System.

Established in 1961, Inova Fairfax Hospital is a recognized leader in clinical care. It has been named one of "America’s Best Hospitals" for 14 consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report magazine and one of "America’s 50 Best Hospitals" four years in a row by independent healthcare-quality ratings firm HealthGrades, Inc. With 833 beds, Inova Fairfax Hospital is the largest hospital in Northern Virginia. It is Northern Virginia’s only Level I trauma center and serves as the hub for the region’s hospitals. The campus is home to the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute and Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children, the only children’s hospital in Northern Virginia.

Inova Health System is a not-for-profit healthcare system based in Northern Virginia that consists of hospitals and other health services, including emergency- and urgent-care centers, home care, nursing homes, mental health and blood donor services, and wellness classes. Governed by a voluntary board of community members, Inova’s mission is to improve the health of the diverse community it serves through excellence in patient care, education and research. Inova provides a healthy environment for its patients, families, visitors, staff and physicians by prohibiting tobacco use on its campuses.

Comprehensive EMPI and Related Services

Some may not realize that within RMS you have an enterprise master person index (EMPI) specifically designed for a large scale multi-facility environment. It includes services associated with the conversion of individual facility MPIs and ongoing interactive MPI maintenance with those facilities. The Unibased EMPI notifies you of duplicates such as social security numbers, and searches for errors such as inconsistent birthdates, name spellings, and so on.

Along with Physician Access, it will support and maintain an interactive physician’s office mini-MPI. Unibased provides conversion edits which address obvious garbage data in the MPIs such as 999-99-9999 for a social security number and flag the record for investigation.

A key feature of the EMPI is the option for a corporate-wide medical record number, which may be linked to multiple facility-based medical record numbers throughout the enterprise, or you can merge multiple medical record numbers into one. The EMPI contains patient data, linked to guarantor and subscriber, linked to physicians, insurance plans, orders, schedules and registrations. The system’s rapid search methodology provides sub-second retrieval of patient information, including multi-page lists, patient photographs, insurance card and driver’s license images, document images and, most importantly, positive patient identification because it allows you to rapidly discard garbage data and fully support patient safety.

Unibased has converted MPI data from all Siemens products, Cerner, McKesson, Meditech, Eclipsys, Quadramed, Keane, etc., cleaning out duplicates and erroneous data, and establishing an error-free, multi-facility corporate EMPI for the future. RMS includes this basic product; namely, no significant license cost would be involved to upgrade. Unibased would provide access to a few additional EMPI windows.

ORLANDO, Fla., June 24, 2010 - Children between the ages of six to 10 took to the lawn in front of Florida Hospital for Children running in an obstacle course with legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam. This unique display was designed to visually show the types of challenges that parents often face when trying to care for the health of their child.

Florida Hospital for Children is launching a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind health initiative called Healthy 100 Kids to help families gain better access to health and wellness experts in one convenient location. Healthy 100 Kids is designed to help kids stay active and provide parents with valuable information, tools and resources about healthy living. The Healthy 100 Kids program is made possible due to the generous donations of community partners including Annika Sorenstam and the ANNIKA Foundation, the Martin Andersen - Gracia Andersen Foundation, the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation and others.

"The goal of Florida Hospital for Children's Healthy 100 Kids program is to create a comprehensive approach to answer a need in our community for better access to health and wellness programs for children," said Marla Silliman, administrator of Florida Hospital for Children. "Florida Hospital has been caring for patients for more than 100 years and we see first hand how many obstacles patients face. Our goal is to eliminate those obstacles and make it as easy as possible for parents to have access to the care they need for their children."
"The ANNIKA Foundation strives to teach children about the importance of healthy living and an active lifestyle," said Annika Sorenstam. "I am so excited to partner with Florida Hospital for Children's Healthy 100 Kids program because together, I think we can help kids' live healthier lives. It is our vision that steps we take against the largest pandemic facing America's youth will one day be best practices implemented nationwide."

The Healthy 100 Kids program is about more than just losing weight; it is about giving parents and children the tools they need to change their lifestyle. The Healthy 100 Kids team consists of four health professional who specialize in pediatrics and weight management, nutrition, exercise and psychology. The medical director of Healthy 100 Kids, Dr. Angela Fals, is one of a handful of pediatricians in the country who specializes in pediatric weight management, or bariatric medicine. The other experts on the Healthy 100 Kids team include Dr. Celine Passeri, a child clinical psychologist, Lindy Moore, an exercise physiologist, and Tamara Sims-Dorway, a registered dietician. Together, this team will provide a comprehensive approach to care for children and their families dealing with unhealthy lifestyles, overweight challenges and associated medical complications. Additionally, the Healthy 100 Kids program has partnered with the Florida Hospital - Sanford Burnham Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes to research the causes of childhood obesity. This strong research partner will help the program by conducting research to help us better understand the causes of childhood obesity.

The Healthy 100 Kids' physicians, clinicians and medical staff will tailor a program with the goal of giving children and families the best chance of living to a healthy 100. The interconnectivity between nutrition, fitness, relaxation, relationships and body image will lay the foundation for new household habits. While there may be short-term incremental goals, the program offers all participants long-term support and encouragement through a variety of means because "staying healthy" is a lifetime commitment.

Client News: Inova Mount Vernon hospital plans upgrades

Source: Washington Business Journal - by Ben Fischer

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria announced Friday it plans to spend $43.6 million to renovate and expand its campus, with construction scheduled to begin in 2012 pending regulatory approval.

The 65,000-square foot project will add a new patient tower, two new operating rooms, space for further growth and infrastructure upgrades. Specific services that will be enhanced by the project, according to the hospital, will be medical surgery, orthopedics, joint replacement and rehabilitation.

“This multimillion-dollar expansion is a demonstration of the commitment we have to delivering high-quality care and being the health care provider of choice for the growing Mount Vernon area,” hospital CEO Barbara Doyle said in a statement.

The hospital said with the expanded and upgraded space, patients will enjoy more privacy, state-of-the-art operating room technology and more flexibility to handle surges in patient count during emergencies.

The hospital, at 2501 Parkers Lane, has 237 licensed beds and had $142.3 million in revenue in 2008. In addition to the Mount Vernon community, it serves southeastern Fairfax County.

Golf Update

Jon Castner and his partner Dr. Stan Carter Carter participated in a St. Louis local 40-team golf competition event on June 9-10. The format was a combination of a nine-hole scramble, nine-hole shamble and an 18-hole two-man best ball. They won the net scoring title in the championship division by a record 18 strokes. They also finished 5th in the gross score competition. Sounds like the PGA is next, but after he finishes all of the interfaces and conversions (ext. 122).

Charlie Kean (ext. 171) and Bob Grass (ext. 148) participated in the Norton Healthcare System annual golf tournament and played with Steve Ready, Norton’s V.P. of Enterprise Solutions, and Ken Smith, Business Process Analyst for Norton. Their team shot a respectable 8 under par, despite major putting woes. The highlight may have been Steve Ready’s drive of over 290 yards to a Par 4 green. (Unfortunately, the team three putted). We look forward to trying for the win again next year!

Unibased March Madness

Since 1993, Unibased employees have had an informal office pool for the annual NCAA Men’s basketball tournament. After completing the brackets and before the tournament begins, each player turns in $1 to the pool (used to purchase the engraved name plate). The ultimate winner is awarded the “Unibased March Madness Wizard” trophy, and their name and year are engraved on the trophy. The trophy is kept at their desk until the next year and comes with 1 year worth of priceless, often relentless, "bragging rights". (In conjunction with the March Madness pool of 64 teams, a Sweet 16 office pool is held as the tournament reaches that point.)

The awards are presented at a company-wide luncheon, and the traditional fare is pizza and salad. The technical writing department creates a poem intended to entertain and "roast" the winner and all who played. The wacky poem lady, since 1993, has been Julie Hoevel, Senior Technical Writer. The party was held on June 8 this month, and it was won by Larry Weigel, Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration (pictured above). He’s good with numbers! :-)

Client News: Inova Fairfax Hospital takes part in World's Largest Paired Kidney Exchange

by Brenna Smith -(WUSA) -- Fourteen total strangers received a second chance at life after Jennifer Whitford, a young mother of two, died unexpectedly on May 26.

Whitford, 24, started a domino effect resulting in the world's largest paired kidney exchange. The record-setting swap happened over a period of nine different days this spring at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington Hospital Center, Children's National and Inova Fairfax.

"Unlike transplant exchanges that have taken place at Georgetown and the Washington Hospital Center in the past, this exchange was kicked off thanks to the generosity of (Jennifer)", says Dr. Keith Melancon, surgeon and director of the kidney/pancreas transplant program at Georgetown.

Whitford's kidney was flown to Georgetown where Dr. Melancon transplanted it into Brenda Wolfe, 44. Wolfe's husband, Ralph, was slated to donate his kidney to someone as a part of the exchange and could have rightfully declined to continue with his donation.

He chose to stay in the exchange. "I felt that if I backed out, I'd be going back on my word that I had given to someone I didn't even know," he said. "I know God had a plan for me to stay in this. It was the right thing to do."

As a result of Ralph's choice to continue, twenty-six more surgeries took place between June 1 and June 12, and thirteen more kidneys were successfully transplanted into new bodies.

Denise Milliken, Whitford's mother, made the choice to donate her daughter's organs.

"Life is short. Life is special," she said. "I think people should be willing to give absolutely everything that's possible."

The list of donors included people who weren't a match for their own loved one and two strangers who just wanted to help.

Gary Johnson received a kidney from Ralph Wolfe.

"You can't imagine how fortunate I feel that someone from somewhere in the universe came and gave me a kidney," he said.

Over 80,000 people currently sit on the kidney transplant waiting list, but exchanges like this shorten the wait for everyone.

Doctors also have a new blood-cleansing technique that makes people more compatible. "We used to say to about a third of the patients, 'Sorry, your donor is incompatible. You'll need to go on the waiting list'," says Dr. Jimmy Light, director of transplantation services at Washington Hospital Center. He adds, "Now, there is no such thing as an incompatible donor."

Giving a kidney as a living donor is easier than ever. The surgery is performed through tiny incisions, and doctors say donors can expect a completely normal lifespan with one healthy kidney.

Client News: Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare collaborating with Louisville Science Center on program to boost interest in medical careers

Project provides live view of heart surgery

SOURCE: Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare
Press Release

LOUISVILLE (June 16, 2010) – Middle and high school students visiting the Louisville Science Center will view live heart surgeries and interact with surgical teams as part of a project that seeks to boost interest in medical careers and promote healthy lifestyles among young people. The Greater Louisville Medical Society and Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare are collaborating with the Louisville Science Center to establish the educational program called Pulse of Surgery.

GLMS and donors to the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation have each pledged $100,000 to the program, slated to launch this winter. The funding is for technology outfitting, development of curriculum and program materials, supplies, marketing, evaluation and Science Center staff. In the first year, a minimum of 12 surgeries are expected to be broadcast live from Jewish Hospital, to students from Kentucky and southern Indiana at the Science Center.

Pulse of Surgery is modeled on successful collaborations in Chicago and other major cities. Joanna Haas, executive director of the Louisville Science Center, said the program is designed to “increase science literacy among middle and high school students. By engaging them in doing science – witnessing a surgery in real time and interacting with the medical staff – we hope to increase their interest in pursuing future science careers. These students are our future doctors, medical researchers and innovators – and the Louisville Science Center is committed to impacting students across the state, energizing them by connecting them with scientists in the field.” The program includes supplementary visuals and pre- and post-activities for the classroom.

Kimberly A. Alumbaugh, M.D., president of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, said the program will offer physicians the opportunity to recruit new minds to the medical profession. “Physicians will be taking students into the operating room and showing them the team concept of medicine as well as the terrible effects of smoking and obesity,” Dr. Alumbaugh said.

“We are extremely excited about this partnership with the Science Center and GLMS. Thanks to their support and that of our Foundation donors, we are able to make this a reality,” said Marty Bonick, president/CEO, Jewish Hospital Medical Campus and senior vice president, JHSMH. “Dr. Mark Slaughter is truly the brains behind this project, bringing the idea to us. His interest in children’s education, and providing the right knowledge to inspire them, is what will make this project a success.”

Renowned cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Mark Slaughter will be the lead surgeon performing heart surgery “live” from the operating room, engaging young minds in thought provoking conversations. “Pulse of Surgery is a great opportunity for JHSMH, the Science Center and Louisville. Not only will the program give middle and high school kids an opportunity to talk live with our OR team and discover possible career paths in the health care field, but it gives them an opportunity to see firsthand the results of how lifestyle choices and heredityimpact the human heart,” said Slaughter. Dr. Slaughter is the Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Louisville and Director of the Heart Transplant and Mechanical Assist Device program at Jewish Hospital, and Associate Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute.

Unibased Systems Architecture Will Include Mediware's Bone and Tissue Tracking Capabilities as Part of Suite for Surgical Management

LENEXA, KS--(June 15, 2010) - Mediware Information Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDW) has announced a new distribution agreement with Unibased Systems Architecture (Unibased) providing Unibased the right to distribute Mediware's BiologiCare® software as a part of their proprietary product suite, ForSite2020®. BiologiCare helps healthcare organizations track bone, tissues, and other biologic substances used in surgery and patient therapies and offers Unibased customers a compelling solution for an area of care with increasing regulation and oversight.

"Operating room staff usually manage all the materials used in surgical procedures but have struggled to efficiently comply with complex tracking and compliance requirements revolving surrounding the use of bones, tendons and other biologics," said Thomas Mann, Mediware's president and chief executive officer. "Unibased has a significant base of surgery department customers, an excellent reputation for surgery management technologies, and their customers have already expressed a need for a solution like BiologiCare. Combined, we believe this is a channel relationship that could deliver important results for both our organizations and our customers."

BiologiCare was introduced to address new regulatory concerns regarding the receipt, storage and use of biologic products in patient therapies. The software provides hospitals with an automated environment that helps staff know at a glance what biologic products they have, what quantities exist, when they will expire, as well as if they were used and what patient received the biologic therapy.

Larry Grossman, VP, Product Management, said, "When addressing the requirements of our clients and prospects, we wanted to be sure to select a product that was easy to use and met all of their needs. Because of the sensitivity to temperature changes and extensive monitoring required to maintain an inventory of tissues, coupled with the success of Mediware in their blood bank business, we felt comfortable selecting BiologiCare. After careful evaluation, we really liked the modular approach of the BiologiCare product which enables users to select the features and functions that met their current business needs while maintaining the flexibility to add functionality over time. Fully integrating it in our ForSite2020 Surgery Management solution will make the interaction seamless and easy for our clients."

The effective tracking and tracing of transplantable materials has become a serious management problem with few viable solutions. A typical facility has a wide variety of transplantable tissues from a myriad of suppliers on hand at any given time. BiologiCare allows hospitals to understand their inventory, manage vendor qualifications, and re-order or re-distribute products through the view of a single screen. Further, in the event of a product contamination or recall, BiologiCare quarantines unused products and streamlines regulatory audits to understand potential risks to staff and patients.

Scalable and flexible, BiologiCare's multiple modules can be deployed as traditional software on the customer's network or as a remote hosted solution. For more information about BiologiCare, please contact info@mediware.com or visit the company's web site. For information about how BiologiCare can operate within the surgical suite or as a part of the ForSite2020 product suite, please contact Unibased at info@unibased.com or www.unibased.com.

PHI and Security

HIPAA has updated provisions, and HITECH 13401 is here (almost). All Unibased employees will be attending multiple classes presented by Brown Smith Wallace (BSW), experts in this field. Several elements in this area have or will find their way into Unibased security and training curriculum software. A clear audit trail of training for your personnel is recommended. Unibased has software (ET2S) that may be helpful in scheduling and documenting your training. If you are interested, call Larry Weigel at ext. 153.

Plugging basic internet security gaps continues to be a problem for everyone. David White (ext. 132) has been working with internet security engineers from BSW reviewing the implications of multi-page, multi-challenge access methods for Physician Access and CASH, similar to the process used by major banks. The design challenge is to ensure secure access without making the process so cumbersome that it won’t be used by the intended audience.

EASYQ

Unibased wrote an application query tool a few years back to supplement standard reports and R3 (Unibased's product data and your report generator tools). Along the way, we added a few improvements and incorporated them into modules such as WorkQ Management. WOW! It has become very popular, and even though it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of a commercial report generator, it is being used as such. Why not, it’s “free.”

However, it is really not free (licensure) because, if not monitored, high end-user query reporting can bring your system to its knees. End users can quickly create unrestricted queries, which will unnecessarily plow through your entire database, as often as they wish. While you may not necessarily want your end users to think like programmers, you do want them to have easy access; therefore, I.T. should monitor usage. When 50 or more EasyQ reports are being used over and over, it’s a regular production report, and you may be in trouble. Recommendation: be ready to convert to R3 or have Unibased create a standard report. Also don’t forget to consider Microsoft’s Excel. Meanwhile, Unibased is exploring the tightening of query restrictions and methodology to minimize disk IOs.

Random Internet Outages Continue

It’s a pesky little devil, and it’s still there. According to a recent Associated Press article (5/9/10), Old Internet Flaw Persists, outages have and will continue to disrupt businesses, the government and anyone who needs the internet to run normally. From the article, “It’s ugly when you look under the cover," says Earl Zmijewski, a general manager at Renesys Corp., which tracks the performance of data routes. "It amazes me everyday when I get into work and find it’s working.” For the complete article, click here.

Press Release: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center Implements Unibased ForSite2020® Surgery Management System

Chesterfield, MO., June 2, 2010: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) in Martinez, CA has successfully implemented the Unibased ForSite2020 Surgery Management software solution. CRMC converted from a Mediware surgery management system using Unibased automatic conversion software. The new system will help Contra Costa Regional Medical Center improve its operating room productivity and efficiency as well as help improve patient safety. ForSite2020 Surgery Management will be interfaced to both Keane for ADT and charges and to Meditech for materials management to insure continuity of data collection, transmission, dissemination and integrity throughout CCRMC.

The Unibased solution will enable CCRMC staff to capture all relevant clinical and administrative data automatically as patients enter and pass through the intraoperative environment of the hospital. The system is designed to help the hospital optimize the use of nursing staff, supplies and operating room schedules as well as the clinical care process.

ForSite Analytics, the Unibased advanced analytics/dashboard tool, will allow performance over time to be measured and managed, thus contributing to CCRMC’s advances in providing best practice cost effectively.

“We’re delighted with what this solution will do for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. We are particularly happy with being the first California hospital to install the Unibased ForSite2020 Surgery Management System. We hope that the Unibased Surgery Management software will perform precisely as we expect,” said David Runt, Chief Information Officer. “Our clinical team is genuinely excited by how it will help us improve efficiency and patient safety while integrating with the other systems we have in place. Unibased has delivered on what it promised, within the timeline and cost agreed upon. Unibased is an extremely professional organization; one that delivers on all of their promises. Over the next few months we expect to see the system delivering its full potential, adding value within the organization and improving the service we provide to patients.”

ForSite2020 Surgery Management is a fully integrated software solution for the surgical continuum of care and reporting thus helping clinical staff to automate documentation of care through the entire patient pathway, helping to reduce the potential for errors. David Runt, CIO, said, “Unibased software will help us to manage resources more effectively than ever before in the most critical areas of the hospital. It makes it far easier for clinical teams to access information and manage data, and it is a clear example of how the appropriate use of information technology can help physicians improve clinical practice.”

“Every investment needs to demonstrate a strong return,” said David Runt. “The implementation has gone extremely well, and over the coming months, management, staff and patients at Contra Costa can expect to see the kind of benefits that only a specialized perioperative information management system can help bring to the surgical areas of the hospital.”

Contra Costa Regional Medical Center purchased the following ForSite2020 Surgery Management modules:
- Perioperative Charting for All Phases of Surgical Care
- Physician Access for Surgeon Office Scheduling
- Big Board/Patient Tracking
- Complete Surgery Scheduling Functionality with Pre-admission Testing
- Front-End Revenue Cycle Rules/Capabilities
- ForSite Analytics (Executive Dashboard)

Unibased software has been delivering operational efficiencies and improved communication to enhance clinician and patient experiences at hospitals for the last 24 years.
